[YDD] Should data be banned?

When you can interpret data Reader, you will never be unsure about how to drive faster... ever... again.

Some would argue data gives you such an advantage it shouldn't be allowed. Long gone are feelings of pro driver vulnerability; data unearths too much lap time for that.

Just like every pro racing team on the planet, you know that data interpreted well will help you to drive faster. So much so that in some series data is banned... but why?

Data is about clarity... in a sport swamped with complexity.

When you're fluent with data you don't see numbers.

What you see is precisely where you are gaining or losing lap time. You understand exactly how you can improve on the brakes. You know, without question, the best gear to be in for every corner. The ideal line you should be aiming for is completely clear... as well as so much more.

A lifetime of lap time gains

Everyone is trying sell you stuff at a discount this weekend. This sale is different. Tomorrow is about helping you level-up with a new life-long skill... yes, at a "crazy" discounted price.

It is about enabling you to finally do something with all that data sitting idle on your logger. About you becoming certain about how to lap faster.

How can data on a laptop help you drive faster... really?

Data offers a statement of what you've done. It gives you feedback free from bias and opinion. Interpreted well, data identifies your opportunities for improvement, whilst also helping you prioritise your next steps.

But its a fair question: If you see in the data that you can brake later and harder for turn 3, how do you put that into practise next time you are hurtling towards the corner?

A lesson from Olympic coaching to help you apply data on track

Today I am exclusively sharing with you this recently updated lesson that no one has seen, outside those enrolled on: The Complete Beginners Guide To Motorsports Data Analysis course.

You see, what not many realise, is that having access to the level of certainty data gives you as a driver, is really about reinforcing your abilities in the car.

That is what data is all about, in my humble opinion.

Data can give you complete confidence in your mind about what needs to be done.

At the end of the day, you are the one that has to go out and apply this stuff.

Part 3 of the course is all about that transforming understanding into action. This is the full section introduction.

How to apply the knowledge is not something you see covered in other courses. Technical courses typically cover the technical understanding, not the practical, human application.

This is section is in addition to the technical lessons. It introduces you to a framework for turning your new insights into lap time.

Should data be banned?

Well if you're collecting data already, wouldn't it make sense to understand what all the fuss is about?

I hope you find todays perspective and insights valuable... and get benefit from the course if you choose to give it a go tomorrow.

Ahead of the Curve n This week: Testing on old tyres – Worth it or waste of time? Hello Reader, You might hear people in the paddock declare that testing on old tyres is a complete waste of time. But is it? This might be fine for them but what if you don't have an unlimited budget for tyres, care somewhat for the environment and/or find yourself restricted by series regulation? You know that new tyres will give you more grip and that they will perform differently. But will the information...
